Seiko deliberately pitted both factories against each other: they developed independent caliber families, competed separately in chronometer competitions in Neuchâtel and Geneva, and pushed each other to ever higher levels of accuracy. The 4502 caliber, a product of this rivalry, doubled the frequency to 36,000 vibrations per hour compared to its predecessor 44, and offered a hacking seconds function as well as the famous instantaneous date change at midnight. Many collectors consider the 45KS to be the technically equivalent, outwardly more understated alternative to the Grand Seiko of the same years.

Condition: Unworn spare part from old stock.
