Historical background
The Citizen Pet model series appeared around 1959–1962 and was aimed at the Japanese domestic market.
It was designed for ladies who were looking for a reliable yet fashionable and elegant watch.
The model combines Parashock technology with the innovative Phynox balance spring , a nickel-based alloy with increased temperature and magnetic field resistance – a technological advancement that Citizen actively promoted at the time.
The case bears the engraving “CGP STAR – 20 Microns – Stainless Back” and was produced by Citizen Star , one of the case manufacturers at the time.

Description
The Citizen Pet Phynox is a typical example of Japanese hand-wound watches from the early 1960s – functional, precise and elegant.
Despite its compact dimensions, its rectangular case with slightly curved sides and fine gold plating makes a striking impression on the wrist.
The innovative Phynox spiral also made them less sensitive to temperature changes and magnetism – a technical quality feature of their time.
Collector's value and significance
The Citizen Pet is one of Citizen's more interesting early women's models, as it combines technical innovation (Phynox) with elegant design.
Extant pieces in good condition are rare and are becoming increasingly popular among collectors of Japanese vintage watches.
