This elegant commemorative (netsuke) pocket watch was issued in 1986 (昭和六十一年 / Shōwa 61) to mark the 60th anniversary of His Majesty Emperor Hirohito's accession to the throne . It is one of the most symbolic commemorative pieces of the late Shōwa period, combining imperial symbolism, Japanese craftsmanship, and classic watchmaking.
The watch is housed in its original presentation case made of light grey imitation leather with a golden chrysanthemum – the official emblem of the Japanese Imperial Family – and comes with a gold-plated chain and a chatelaine chain bearing the imperial emblem on both sides.

Description
The obverse features a detailed enameled relief of the phoenix and chrysanthemum , both imperial symbols of immortality and dignity. The gold inscription inside and the finely crafted chain underscore the prestigious nature of this collector's item, which was originally produced as a commemorative gift for the 1986 celebrations.
The clock was fitted with a new battery in October 2025 and is fully functional. It is in very good condition – with only minimal signs of age-related wear.
