Historical background
The Seiko Angel line was introduced in the early 1960s as a fine ladies' collection with a special focus on elegance, reliability and craftsmanship.
The models were deliberately designed to be understated – without unnecessary embellishments, but with high-quality materials and finely gold-plated cases.
The abbreviation "Diashock" refers to the in-house shock protection system that Seiko developed as the Japanese equivalent of "Incabloc".
The example shown here, with serial number 29003 , dates from 1962 and bears the engraving “EGP 20 Microns – Back Steel” on the case back, which indicates the 20-micron gold plating used at the time.
