Citizen Attesa 7870-H01296 TA – Eco-Drive Titan (Japan Domestic Model, June 1996)
The Citizen Attesa 7870-H01296 TA is a classic example of Japanese engineering from the 1990s.
It comes from the early phase of the Attesa series, which Citizen developed as a premium titanium line for the Japanese market.
Thanks to the combination of advanced Eco-Drive solar technology , antimagnetic titanium case and timeless design , this model is now considered a sought-after collector's item.
The watch with serial number 661240 was manufactured in June 1996 – one of the first generations of the lightweight, energy-independent Attesa watches that shaped Citizen's technological self-image: robustness, precision and sustainability.
The black sunburst dial with gold-colored accents gives the watch an elegant presence, while the bead-blasted titanium case and solid link bracelet ensure exceptional wearing comfort.
Historical background
The Attesa series was positioned in the late 1980s as a high-end technology line within the Citizen portfolio. It combined materials from the aerospace industry – especially titanium – with modern watchmaking technology such as radio control, solar power, and antimagnetism.
The model shown here , 7870-H01296 TA, is one of the early Eco-Drive models from the 1990s, when Citizen first integrated its solar cell technology into titanium watches.
These models are considered technical milestones today, as they formed the basis for later top models such as the Attesa Global Radio-Controlled or Satellite Wave.
Design description
The case is made of solid titanium , finely bead-blasted and with an integrated titanium link bracelet.
The deep black dial features gold-colored, polished hour markers and hands; the date display at 3 o'clock blends discreetly into the minimalist layout.
The Attesa logo – the stylized nautilus shell – is located below 12 o'clock.
On the reverse side are engravings with model code, caliber information, titanium and antimagnetism information (4800 Gauss) .
The watch embodies typical Japanese industrial design – functional, precise, and purposeful – while also representing a clear aesthetic line that continues to define Attesa to this day.
