Historical background
The Cosmostar series was introduced in the early 1970s as a further development of the Citizen Crystal line and was intended to represent a modern, compact automatic watch line for the Japanese market. The caliber 6600 used was characterized by its smooth running, fine regulation, and slim design.
Citizen set early standards for everyday water resistance with its Para Water technology (introduced in 1959). The Cosmostar V2 was part of that generation that combined style with technical reliability – an emblem of Japanese engineering in the early 1970s.
