Fine rectangular Citizen Elegant from the early 1960s, equipped with the proven Parashock hand-wound movement with 17 jewels.
A classic women's model that combines simple lines, high-quality workmanship and technical reliability.

Historical background

The Citizen Elegant was part of Citizen's early dress watch line and was produced between approximately 1960 and 1963 .
During this time, Citizen solidified its reputation as a leading Japanese manufacturer of precise hand-wound watches for women.
The model combines the rectangular design of the 1950s with the modern “Parashock” shock protection system, Citizen’s answer to Seiko’s “Diashock”.

The case bears the engraving “CGP STAR – Back Stainless – E40225” , which indicates a 20-micron gold plating with a stainless steel back – typical for high-quality Japanese watches of that time.

The elongated case with slightly domed plexiglass, the fine hands and the clearly structured dial give it a subtle, feminine appeal.
Its mechanical movement runs reliably and exemplifies Citizen's understanding of quality in the early 1960s.
