Citizen Grace – 19 Jewels – Hand-wound ladies' wristwatch (July 1963)

Citizen Grace – 19 Jewels – Hand-wound ladies' wristwatch (July 1963)

Fine rectangular Citizen Grace from the early 1960s – an elegant ladies' wristwatch with a classic hand-wound movement, made in Japan.
This watch combines the stylistic clarity of post-war modernism with the precision and reliability for which Citizen was already known at that time.

Historical background

The Citizen Grace series was part of Citizen's early women's collection, which focused on simple elegance and precise mechanics.
The rectangular case follows the aesthetics of the 1950s and early 1960s, when Japanese manufacturers began to take their cues from European designs – particularly those of Longines and Omega.

The gold-plated case bears the engraving “CGP – 20 Microns – STAR” and refers to the high-quality 20-micron gold plating.
Inside, a finely regulated hand-wound movement with 19 jewels is at work, which is valued for its robustness and accuracy.
