This elegant vintage watch from the mid-1960s is among the highest quality hand-wound models Citizen has ever produced. The Super Precision was the brand's flagship model in Japan – crafted with high standards of accuracy, finishing, and durability.

Design & Character

The silver sunburst dial with applied, highly polished indices and sharply cut dauphine hands embodies the style of Japanese watchmaking of that time: simple, precise, uncompromisingly functional.
Below the “Super Precision” lettering are three stars – Citizen’s historical symbol for watches with the highest movement quality and accuracy.

The polished stainless steel case is classically proportioned and in excellent condition. The new red leather strap with crocodile embossing lends the timepiece a modern, stylish touch without compromising its vintage character.

Waterproofing

The model bears the historic "Para Water Star" designation, which was used for Citizen's first water-resistant watches from the late 1950s onwards.
The design included a screwed-in base, reinforced seals and a double-sealed crown – technical features that were ahead of their time.

Background and technical significance

The Citizen Super Precision marked a turning point in Japanese watchmaking history:
It was one of the first models to be equipped with 27 jewels – an exceptionally high number for the time, which minimized friction and significantly increased the lifespan of the movement.

The model was in direct competition with the early Seiko Chronometer and Crown models and represented Citizen's answer to the growing technical competition between the two major Japanese manufacturers.

The “Super Precision” line was the forerunner of later precision models such as the Citizen Chronometer , Chronomaster and the Highness series .
With its hand-wound movement, clear case architecture and precise manufacturing quality, it is now one of the most sought-after vintage models from Citizen – a piece of Japanese watchmaking history.
