Clocky

Clocky is a Japanese private label for entry-level quartz watches. Such private labels are common in Japan and are manufactured by established suppliers – they cost less than more well-known brand models because there is no brand markup, not because less care goes into them. For the European market, they are practically invisible: if you want to wear a Clocky, you have to find it in Japan.

You can tell this by the quality of the watch. A full stainless steel case, 10 BAR rating from the factory, and a cleanly printed dial design are anything but standard for this price range.

Design and Character

The dial is in a vibrant blue that shifts between navy and cobalt depending on the lighting. The hour numerals are printed in legible white, complemented by a fine minute track on the edge; the hands are slender and filled with luminous material. The date window is located at 6 o'clock, with the "Clocky" signature in a cursive font at 3 o'clock – a layout that gives the dial a pleasantly asymmetrical sense of calm.

The case back is clearly signed: Clocky · KY020M · ALL STAINLESS STEEL · WATER RESISTANT 10BAR.

With a 33.1 mm diameter, 40.8 mm lug-to-lug, and 9.4 mm height, the watch is deliberately small in scale. This makes it work just as well on slender wrists as it does as a secondary watch for someone tired of large cases. 37 grams on the new NATO strap, 18 mm lug width – a strap change is done in a minute and completely changes the character of the watch.

The watch is in very good condition. It is supplied on a new black/gray NATO strap. The battery has been freshly replaced.
