A Small Piece of Japanese Craftsmanship

This special leather case is handmade in Fuchū, Japan, from genuine cowhide leather. Originally designed as a high-quality Japanese coin case, we discovered during our visit to Japan that its shape and dimensions are almost perfect for storing classic pocket watches.

With its compact dimensions of approx. 9 × 7.5–8 × 2.2 cm, the case securely and precisely holds a classic pocket watch. The soft leather protectively encloses the watch, while the overlapping leather construction inside provides additional protection. The case closes with a classic snap fastener.

Genuine, Exceptionally Soft Cowhide Leather

The leather used is particularly beautiful. It is very soft and pleasant to the touch, has a distinct natural grain, and the characteristic, pleasant scent of genuine leather.

As leather is a natural product and the cases are handmade, each piece is slightly different. Small variations in grain and appearance emphasize its individual character. Over time, the leather can also develop a beautiful, personal patina.

Handmade in Fuchū, Japan

This case is an authentic Japanese CAPIC product. CAPIC products are handcrafted as part of the Japanese correctional system. This model comes from Fuchū and is handmade there from cowhide leather.

The original Japanese name is 「小銭入れ（府中）2型」 – Coin Case Fuchū Type 2.

It is precisely this unusual origin that makes the case a particularly beautiful addition to Japanese vintage watches: a Japanese pocket watch, safely stored in a leather case also handcrafted in Japan.
