Kuretake Kindai Maki-e - Sakura no Sono
The Kuretake Kindai Maki-e collection combines Japanese symbolism, nature motifs, and traditional lacquer art in modern, everyday fountain pens. The "Sakura no Sono" (桜の園 – "The Cherry Blossom Garden") model depicts a poetic scene full of blossoming cherry trees, which have symbolized beauty, transience, and hope in Japanese culture for centuries.
The illustration is inspired by the classic Rimpa style of the 17th century and executed using the Kindai Maki-e technique – a modern interpretation of Maki-e lacquerware. The final clear Urushi lacquer protects the delicate design and gives it a silky sheen.
Crafted from a single piece of aluminum, the fountain pen impresses with its seamless, lightweight, and robust construction. The "Sakura no Sono" is ideal for everyday use or as an exceptional gift with cultural significance.
