OUTLINE ｜アウトライン｜ is the watch brand of Yoshimasa Kikuchi – editor of Japan's most renowned watch magazines such as POWER Watch, LowBEAT and TIME Gear. His watches are not lifeless retro copies, but wearable homages to the golden age of wristwatches: clear proportions, authentic vintage details and deliberately small production runs.
Third collaboration with Tick Tack – and a collector's item model
This 2-Register Chrono Series I is the third collaboration between OUTLINE and the selected watch retailer Tick Tack. The result is a chronograph that captures the style of the 1970s, but remains uncompromising in one aspect: the size. At 37.8 mm and with a slim profile, this is not "accidentally vintage", but deliberately designed to maintain exactly this aesthetic.
Why mecha-quartz is the better choice here
Originally, even a mechanical chronograph movement was considered – but a mechanical chrono would have made the case significantly thicker and destroyed the balance. Therefore, OUTLINE relies on the Seiko Mecha-Quartz caliber VK64: reliable for everyday use, but with a fun chronograph experience. The chronograph second hand runs smoothly, and the reset jumps back instantly – very similar to a mechanical chronograph.
The color: Petrol as a sophisticated accent
The dial comes in a blue-green petrol tone. This is precisely what makes the watch so versatile: classic enough for business, but as an accent color significantly more exciting than standard black or white.
