This Rooster is a very good example of how Japanese microbrands can combine classic elegance with modern everyday technology. The Rooster brand is not an anonymous trade name, but the in-house brand of IDA Watch from Yokohama-Motomachi. The origins of IDA Watch date back to 1903, when a watch shop was founded there. Today, IDA Watch positions Rooster as its own design line with a classic basic approach, but consciously individual colors, shapes, and details.

This particular watch illustrates very well what the brand is all about. The design is clear and modern, but does not appear technically cold. The rich green dial with its stepped construction harmonizes perfectly with the gold-colored case and the perfectly color-matched green leather strap. The applied indices and sharply cut hands provide a high-quality impression, while the reduced display of the watch gives it a very clean, almost dressy look. In addition to automatic daily synchronization, there is also forced reception, initial reception, a reception status display, manual time setting with radio reception shutdown, a charge level warning, and a power-save function. Daily automatic synchronization occurs once a day at 2:00 AM. If no radio signal is received, the watch operates as a normal quartz watch with a deviation of approximately ±30 seconds per month. A rechargeable ML2016 secondary cell is used as the energy storage. According to the manual, after full charge, the operating time is about 8 months, and in power-save mode, even up to 2 years.

A particularly practical point for buyers outside Japan: Although the watch is designed to receive the Japanese JJY time signal, in practice there are apps and internet tools that can emulate this radio signal in Germany. This often makes synchronization possible even outside Japan. This is a real added value for anyone who wants to use the radio time function in Europe as well.

This particular piece is especially attractive due to its condition and scope of delivery. The watch is almost unused and accordingly very well preserved. It comes as a Full Set with box, manual, and warranty card from March 2020. Especially for a smaller Japanese brand, such a complete scope of delivery is a significant plus. This not only makes the model more attractive to wearers but also appealing to collectors who appreciate Japanese independent and shop brands with cleanly documented origins.
