Seiko 5 Sports 6106-8560 – Feb. 1970 – blue dial, original band, serviced
A real eye-catcher from the golden era of Japanese sports watches: This Seiko 5 Sports "Water 70m Proof" (Ref. 6106-8560) from February 1970 combines a deep blue dial, a vibrant orange second hand, and a robust tonneau case for an irresistibly cool 70s look – and comes complete with the sought-after original stainless steel bracelet.
The blue sports dial: Above the rich blue lies a light blue inner minute track, along with applied lumed indices, the "SEIKO 5" shield, the "Sports / Water 70m Proof / 23 Jewels" signature, and – as an unmistakable highlight – the orange second hand. This color combination makes the model one of the most attractive and currently sought-after vintage Seiko 5 Sports watches.
Seiko 5 DNA: The name "5" stands for the five core features that made Seiko a global success from 1963: automatic movement, day/date display, water resistance, the typical recessed crown at the 4 o'clock position, and a robust case with a bracelet. The "Sports" line was the sporty, water-resistant, dive-oriented expression of this idea – designed for active, young wearers.
The Movement: It is powered by the reliable caliber 6106C from Seiko's Suwa manufacture – an automatic movement with 23 jewels, hacking seconds, 21,600 vibrations/hour, and a bilingual day/date display (Kanji/English) with clever quick-set via the crown (light press changes the date, full press changes the day). The 6106 is one of the most robust and durable Seiko automatic movements of its time.
Condition and Service: The watch presents itself in very good, original condition with a strong, clear blue dial and sharp case contours. It was professionally and completely serviced in Japan in spring 2026 (complete disassembly, cleaning, oiling, regulation – photographically documented) and purchased directly from the watchmaker; it runs perfectly. It comes with the original Seiko stainless steel bracelet – a rare and valuable bonus for these models, as the original bracelet is often missing.
Dimensions: Case approx. 40.5 × 43.8 mm (Tonneau shape), height 12 mm, lug width 18 mm. Weight on original bracelet approx. 98 g.
