SEIKO A-MY451 Silicone Grease TSF-451 (500,000 cSt), 4 g – Gasket Grease for Watch Cases | Original SEIKO Japan
Original SEIKO service material, imported directly from Japan – hardly available outside of Japan.
The silicone grease A-MY451 (Type TSF-451, viscosity 500,000 cs) is the sealing grease from the official SEIKO service program – the material used to treat case gaskets at SEIKO ex-works and in authorized service centers. A wafer-thin film of silicone on the case back, crystal, and crown gaskets serves two purposes: It noticeably increases the water resistance of the screw connection and at the same time slows down the aging of the rubber gasket – the gasket remains pliable instead of hardening and cracking.
The 4g tin is designed as a refill for the silicone applicator (gasket greaser); crown gaskets and other sealing rings can also be greased directly from the tin. Greasing the gaskets is part of proper sealing during every battery change and overhaul – this step is crucial, especially for vintage watches, whose gaskets are often the last line of defense against moisture. One small tin lasts for many years with economical use.
What distinguishes the product from European counterparts:
Silicone greases for watch gaskets are also available in Europe – but mostly without viscosity specifications and without a manufacturer's reference to the watch industry. The SEIKO TSF-451, with its defined 500,000 cs, is exactly the specification that SEIKO specifies for its own calibers and cases: highly viscous enough to stay on the gasket instead of creeping into the movement, and at the same time compatible with the sealing materials used in Japanese watches. Anyone servicing SEIKO, Citizen, or Orient to factory standards uses exactly this grease – it is not regularly available in Europe.
