Seiko Chorus 2518-0130 – Manual winding – February 1969 – blue dial – Original bracelet

A small Seiko from a model family of the 1960s that is almost forgotten today.

This Seiko Chorus Ref. 2518-0130 dates from February 1969.

The Chorus series is among the lesser-known Seiko names of that era. Unlike model families such as Seiko 5, Lord Matic, or King Seiko, "Chorus" later completely disappeared from the catalog – precisely why these watches are interesting testimonies to the incredibly broad Seiko model range of the 1960s.

The reference 2518-0130 is documented as a Seiko Chorus; the caliber 2518 also belongs to the movements used for the Chorus series.

The Chorus Series

Seiko used the name Chorus in the 1960s for various elegant mechanical watches, including particularly compact models.

The range included different hand-wound movements and equipment levels. The 2518 is a mechanical hand-wound movement; 21 jewels are documented for the Ref. 2518-0130.

This makes this model technically more classic than the automatic ladies' watches of the later 2206 series: the watch is wound via the crown in the morning – exactly how mechanical wristwatches were worn for decades.

Design

The dark blue dial is particularly attractive.

Depending on the light, it changes from almost black to an intense blue. The applied light baton indices and slender hands provide a clear contrast.

A small date window is located at 3 o'clock.

The fluted bezel is an unusual detail for such a compact watch and gives it a much more elaborate appearance.

The original Seiko stainless steel bracelet, which seamlessly connects to the case shape, is also preserved.

Dating

The serial number is 920321.

In conjunction with the production period of the caliber 2518, it can be dated to February 1969. Other watches in the 2518 series are also documented for 1969.

Condition

The watch is in authentic vintage condition.

The case and bracelet show visible signs of wear. Age-appropriate signs are also visible on the crystal.

The blue dial remains very attractive and creates different color tones depending on the light.

A recent service is not documented.
