This limited edition Seiko chronograph watch was released in 2021 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Shinkansen “Hayabusa” train, combining modern Japanese watchmaking with one of Japan's most iconic infrastructure projects. The Hayabusa edition is not only a sporty and technical wristwatch, but also a collector's item with clear cultural and industrial-historical significance.

Historical Background – Shinkansen “Hayabusa”

The Hayabusa Shinkansen (E5 series) was developed by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and began regular operation in 2011. With an operating speed of up to 320 km/h, the Hayabusa is one of the fastest high-speed trains in the world. The name “Hayabusa” (Japanese for peregrine falcon) symbolically represents speed, precision, and technological superiority.

The train's characteristic turquoise-green color scheme is directly reflected in the dial of this watch. The dynamic design, the tachymeter bezel, and the sporty chronograph totalizers also creatively reference speed, time measurement, and movement – central themes in both railway and chronograph history.

Model and Design Description

This limited edition Seiko impresses with a striking, sporty appearance and high everyday usability. The turquoise dial with a sunray finish is clearly legible and accented by silver-colored totalizers and a pink chronograph seconds hand – a deliberate design contrast that emphasizes dynamism and individuality.

The fixed tachymeter bezel allows for speed measurement over a defined distance and underscores the technical character of the watch. The solid stainless steel case and the original steel bracelet provide substance and quality without being overly bulky.

The watch is in very good, almost new condition. The case, dial, and crystal show only minimal signs of age or storage. The original steel bracelet with Seiko clasp is fully intact.
