Limited special edition commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Shinkansen Series 0 , the world's first mass-produced high-speed train. This Seiko special edition honors the Japanese engineering that began in 1964 with the opening of the Tōkaidō Shinkansen line, making Japan a symbol of technological progress.

The design is inspired by the original train's typical color scheme – white and silver with a blue gradient – ​​and incorporates the characteristic aerodynamics of the "bullet nose" design. The yellow accents in the totalizers echo the displays and control instruments of the driver's cab.

This model was manufactured exclusively for the Japanese market and is limited to 5,000 units . The present example bears the serial number 0428/5000 .

The Shinkansen Series 0 – A symbol of Japan

The O Series Shinkansen was the world's first commercial high-speed train and was put into service on October 1, 1964 – just in time for the Tokyo Olympics. It ran between Tokyo and Osaka on the newly built Tōkaidō Shinkansen line and reached a then-revolutionary speed of 210 km/h .

It was designed by leading Japanese manufacturers such as Hitachi, Kawasaki, and Nippon Sharyo , who together created a vehicle that redefined not only speed but also safety and comfort. Its distinctive, rounded front end earned it the nickname "Bullet Train" (弾丸列車) and became a global symbol of Japan's technological rise.

Until its retirement in 2008, the Shinkansen 0 remained a symbol of precision, punctuality and innovation – values ​​that Seiko embodies with this anniversary watch.
