Sanrio and the talking alarm clock
Hello Kitty first appeared in 1974 and has been Sanrio's most famous character for half a century. Unlike many licensed characters, her presence in Japan has not remained a children's affair, but spans all age groups and product categories.
The talking alarm clock is a product category of its own in Japan: instead of a signal tone, the character's voice wakes you up. Seiko Clock has maintained this category for years as a regular product with its own movement.
Design
The figure is fully three-dimensional, seated, with the characteristic red bow on her left ear. In front of her, she holds the dial in a light blue ring — white with blue numerals in a child-friendly font and a pink minute track.
