The Talking Alarm Clock

The おしゃべり目ざまし時計, literally the "chatting alarm clock," is a product category of its own in Japan. Instead of a signal tone, a voice wakes you up — in character models, it's the original voice actor of the character.

For children, this is the crucial difference: a ringtone is turned off, a familiar voice is not. Seiko Clock has nurtured this category for years and filled it with major Japanese licensed brands.

This model outputs Pikachu's voice. It was produced exclusively for the Japanese market.

Design

The figure is designed as a full-relief Pikachu, in a sitting posture, with its front paws tucked in, ears perked up, and red cheek spots. The lightning tail on the back also forms the cover over the speaker grille — a solution that makes the technology disappear within the design.

At the front, within a red ring, sits the dial: light blue, with large blue numbers in a child-friendly font and the inscription POCKET MONSTERS in the center. The minute track has a five-minute marking in orange — a clock designed to help children learn to tell time. The hands are red and yellow.

Condition and Origin

New item, obtained in Japan in June 2026. The clock is in its unopened factory foil and is unused.
