The iconic 1980s digital Seiko watch returns in a gold-colored version

The Seiko HFL003P1 revives one of the most unusual digital watch concepts in the brand's history. Its inspiration is the Seiko A829, introduced in 1982, which became known among collectors as the "Rotocall". The nickname refers to the watch's special operating concept: the various functions are selected by rotating the distinctive octagonal bezel.

Its unique design, intuitive function selection, and the historical model's popularity with astronauts made the Rotocall internationally renowned. The reinterpretation preserves the original's characteristic structure and combines it with the modern A824 digital quartz caliber.

The HFL003P1 combines a gold-colored stainless steel case with a dark LCD display and a matching metal bracelet. With a 37 mm diameter, it remains pleasantly compact and brings the futuristic retro style of the early 1980s into a modern, everyday-suitable form.

Design and Operation

The central design element is the bi-directionally rotating, polygonal bezel. Rotating it switches between the different operating modes. Further operation within the selected functions is done via the side pushers.

The dark digital display is based on the historical model in its design and font. Integrated LED lighting allows for readability even in unfavorable lighting conditions.
