Seiko LM 5606-7360 – Lord Marvel Automatic (August 1974)

Seiko LM 5606-7360 – Lord Marvel Automatic (August 1974)

An elegant vintage automatic watch from the Seiko LM series ("Lord Marvel") featuring the reliable caliber 5606A with 25 jewels. Manufactured in August 1974, this model represents the classic design phase of the 1970s with its characteristic gradient dial, precise Japanese automatic movement, and striking stainless steel case.

Design and dial

The dial of this Seiko LM features a striking brown sunburst gradient , transitioning from a light copper tone in the center to a darker brown at the edges. It subtly catches the light, giving the watch a warm, almost luxurious vintage character.

The applied hour markers are gold-colored and faceted , with polished surfaces and a central luminous marker. Matching this, the hands are slim, angular, and also gold-plated , completing the harmonious overall look. The Seiko logo and the inscription “LM Automatic 25 Jewels” are executed in fine gold lettering.

At the 3 o'clock position is the combined day and date window (Kanji/English), framed by a gold-colored border. When light is switched on, the dial appears iridescent and vibrant – a prime example of Seiko's 1970s color aesthetic.

The polished stainless steel case features the typical barrel-shaped LM silhouette with gently rounded sides and clean edges. It is solidly constructed and, thanks to its compact proportions, sits comfortably on the wrist.

The brown, textured leather strap with light contrast stitching accentuates the warm color of the dial and perfectly complements the vintage character.

Background information on the Seiko LM series

The Seiko Lord Marvel (LM) series was positioned in the late 1960s as an upper-middle-class watch between the Seiko 5 Sports and the Grand Seiko. Models with the caliber 5606 already offered high-quality features such as hacking seconds, manual winding, day-date function, and a finely finished 25-jewel movement.

In the 1970s, the LM series was particularly popular in Japan and Southeast Asia and stood for simple elegance, technical reliability and excellent value for money – qualities that still make this watch a sought-after collector's item today.
