Seiko Lord Matic 5606-7260 (July 1973)

This elegant Seiko Lord Matic (Ref. 5606-7260) dates from July 1973 (serial number 37xxxxx, Suwa factory) and is one of the later versions of the LM series, which is known for its technical precision and distinctive Japanese design.

The watch underwent a complete overhaul by a Japanese watchmaker in 2025 (complete disassembly, cleaning, oiling, and regulation). The Seiko caliber 5606A automatic movement with 23 jewels runs very reliably with a deviation of approximately +20 seconds per 24 hours when at rest (depending on wearing habits). The quick-set date function works perfectly; however, as with all 5606 movements, the change should not be made between 8 PM and 4 AM .

The dial features a rare cross-hatch finish in deep blue , reflecting light along two axes to create a striking metallic effect – a feature found on only a few LM models from the early 1970s. Applied silver hour markers and the original faceted hands complete the elegant appearance.

The stainless steel case shows slight signs of wear but is in very good condition overall. The crystal has been polished ; minimal scratches on the edge are barely visible. The watch has been fitted with a new black leather strap (18 mm lug width).

Condition
Very good, original condition. Technically flawless, recently serviced. Original dial and hands. Minor signs of wear on the case and crystal bezel, overall excellent for its age.

Collector's note
The 5606 series is considered by Seiko connoisseurs to be one of the most precise and highest-quality movements of the 1970s, frequently used in the LM and Presage lines. The variant with a cross-brushed dial is particularly rare and impressively represents Seiko's pursuit of technical and aesthetic perfection in the post-Hi-Beat era.
