Seiko Original Dial 4120-9010 (Quartz, "Chariot") - NOS

Original Seiko replacement dial for the early Seiko Quartz series, reference 4120-9010 ("Chariot"), manufactured by Hattori Seiko Co., Ltd. in Japan. Unused original part (New Old Stock, NOS) in original Seiko parts box ("純正部品" / Seiko Genuine Parts) with printed part label.

The round dial features a bright, silvery-white finish. At 12 o'clock, the printed SEIKO QUARTZ lettering is located, below it the stylized Quartz "Q" logo from the mid-1970s. Slim, faceted and applied baton hour markers, as well as a precise minute track, give the dial a clear, elegantly emphasized appearance. It is a time-only dial without a date aperture; at the bottom edge, the factory designation "JAPAN 4120-9010 T" can be found. The green "QT" marking on the box indicates its assignment to the Quartz line.

Background: Seiko's Early Quartz Era

Caliber 4120 originates from the 41-series family developed by Suwa Seikosha – one of Seiko's first mass-produced compact quartz movements (movement production started in June 1975). During this period, Seiko produced movements in two competing factories, Suwa Seikosha and Daini Seikosha, whose rivalry had previously given rise to the top mechanical lines Grand Seiko and King Seiko. The same rivalry also drove the quartz race: At the forefront were King Quartz and Grand Quartz as direct quartz successors to these prestige lines, while the 41-series family presented here (Emblem/Chariot) occupied the high-quality, but deliberately slimmer upper mid-range. The 4120 is thus one of the technical pioneers that paved the way for the later King and Grand Quartz models.
