The round dial features an elegant white finish with finely printed, classically curved Arabic numerals in black and a subtle dotted minute track on the edge. Below the 12 is the SEIKO lettering, above the 6 is the characteristic "Dolce" signature. At the bottom edge is the factory designation "JAPAN 9531-7000". It is a time-only dial without a date window – emphasizing simplicity and eminently suitable for dress watches.

Background: Dolce – Seiko's High-Accuracy Peak of the 1980s

The 9531 caliber is a high-precision analog quartz movement with an accuracy of around ±20 seconds per year – an order of magnitude above older quartz movements of the 1970s (which typically ran around 20 seconds per month). It powered Seiko's upscale dress lines Dolce, Chronos, and Laurel. The Dolce line debuted in the Seiko catalog in 1982 directly behind the "Superior" models, moved to the first page in 1983, and remained Seiko's leading series for High-Accuracy Quartz until 1989 – when Grand Seiko returned to the top. Thus, throughout much of the 1980s, Dolce represented the best that Seiko had to offer in precise, ultra-thin dress quartz technology.
