Seiko Precision Railway Pocket Watch – Ref. 6110-0010T “Second Setting”

This Seiko Precision Second Setting is one of the last classic mechanical railway pocket watches (鉄道懐中時計) , manufactured in the early 1970s . It is based on the legendary 61 -kei caliber, which was only produced between 1971 and 1978 – immediately before the introduction of quartz railway watches.

Background and technical significance

Following the famous 19 Seiko Small Second series, Seiko introduced the Calibre 6110 in the early 1970s – a technically advanced hand-wound movement with 21 jewels that offered a central seconds display for the first time (本中三針, honchū-sanshin ).
The most important feature was the Second Setting function (秒針停止機能) : When the crown is pulled out, the second hand stops, allowing the time to be set to the exact second – an indispensable function for railway workers and technical precision professions.

The power reserve is approximately 47 hours , with a deviation of about +30 seconds per day .

Design and features

The simple white dial with black Arabic numerals and finely crafted leaf-shaped hands follows the classic railway aesthetic.
The clock is exceptionally easy to read and deliberately forgoes any ornamentation in favor of functional clarity.

The chrome-plated stainless steel case shows only slight signs of wear on the back. The crystal is clear, the dial flawless.

The delivery includes:

• An original Japanese, hand-braided Kumihimo cord (懐中時計紐, kaichūdokei himo ) made of white silk, approximately 43 cm long, 8.5 mm in diameter, crafted in Kyoto using traditional Kumihimo techniques (組紐)

• A stainless steel chain , approximately 35 cm long and 2.3 mm in diameter, for everyday use.

• a new compact travel case for safe storage

These silk cords are handcrafted in Kyoto using traditional techniques, often in the same workshops as obijime straps. Today, they are precious, unique pieces that lend the watch an authentic, traditional touch.
