Seiko Presage HCB008J1 – Japanese Garden Open Heart, Black

A homage to the tranquility and aesthetics of Japanese gardens – natural, elegant, and attentive to detail.

The Presage HCB008J1 from the "Japanese Garden" series interprets traditional Zen garden art in a mechanical watch. The black dial features a fine, two-part texture reminiscent of carefully raked gravel. At 9 o'clock, an open-heart aperture reveals the oscillating balance wheel – making the heart of the watch part of the design. Gold-tone hands and Roman numerals provide warm accents against the dark dial, while the stainless steel case and black leather strap create a classic, elegant presence.

Design & Character

The dial appears both vivid and subtle depending on the light; the embossed surface plays with light just like the gravel of a Japanese garden. The dual-curved sapphire crystal enhances the sense of depth and provides a subtle vintage feel. The screw-down exhibition case back reveals the automatic Caliber 4R71, specifically designed for open-heart dials. Thanks to quick-release spring bars, the leather strap can be changed without tools.
