Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph “Pogue” SSC947P1
Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph “Pogue” SSC947P1
The SSC947P1 is a speedtimer solar chronograph with one of Seiko's most famous nicknames: "Pogue." The name comes from astronaut William Pogue, who made a Seiko chronograph with a striking yellow-orange color scheme famous in the 1970s. Since then, "Pogue" has stood for precisely this look in the Seiko world: sporty, bold, iconic – and instantly recognizable.
With the SSC947P1, Seiko revives this design DNA and translates it into a modern Prospex watch for everyday wear. The vibrant orange dial ensures maximum presence while remaining highly legible thanks to its clear layout. Typical of the Speedtimer: everything appears functional, uncluttered, and exactly as one would expect from a chronograph with motorsport and tool watch genes.
Inside, the solar-powered caliber V192 keeps time. It charges via light, runs for up to six months on a full charge, and boasts a practical accuracy of ±15 seconds per month. In addition to the 60-minute chronograph, the watch features a 24-hour display, a small seconds subdial for the current time, and a power reserve indicator on the subdial at 6 o'clock – practical and genuinely useful, as it allows you to monitor the charge level at any time.
The case measures 41.4 mm and has a sporty, yet not oversized, look. The sapphire crystal underscores the watch's high-quality aspirations, while LumiBrite on the hands ensures excellent legibility even in low light. With a water resistance of 10 bar, the SSC947P1 is a robust, versatile timepiece – and a real eye-catcher with a rich history.
