This Seikomatic is a very nice example of Seiko's early high-quality automatic phase. The Seikomatic line was one of the important civilian automatic series of the early 1960s and marks an era in which Seiko significantly expanded its technical and design ambitions in the upscale dress watch segment. These early Seikomatic models are particularly valued today because they combine the elegant, understated design language of the late 1950s and early 1960s with already very mature Japanese automatic technology. Comparative offers and market classifications for reference 15007DE clearly place this model in the early 1960s Seikomatic family.

The watch offered here impresses primarily with its classic elegance. The silver dial with a fine finish, the slim gold-colored applied indices, and the striking dauphine hands create precisely the understated yet noble design for which early Seikomatic models are so highly valued. Unlike many later Seiko models, this watch appears deliberately minimalist: no date display, no additional lettering, but a clear dress watch composition with balanced proportions.

Particularly attractive about this example is the warm effect of the gold-colored case in combination with the high-quality new old stock leather strap. The light brown of the strap visually matches the golden case very well and emphasizes the classic character of the watch. However, reference 15007DE is clearly documented on the market as an early 1960s Seikomatic; a WatchCharts entry explicitly describes a 15007DE as a 1961 model.
