Design Philosophy – The Timeless Call of the Tiger

Although the tiger is not native to Japan, its symbolism is deeply rooted there: it represents strength, courage, and spiritual protection. For centuries, it has adorned Buddhist temples, samurai banners, and artworks from the Edo period. Whether as an emblem of triumph or a motif of inner balance, the tiger embodies the powerful interplay of wildness and harmony. Urushi Dial - Kushime Tsuishitsu Nuri
Urushi craftsmanship by Master Yoko Hirota

The dial of this watch is a true work of art from Kyushu, crafted by renowned lacquer artist Yoko Hirota. Two traditional techniques merge here to create an exceptional finish:
– Kushime (櫛目) creates a rhythmic texture with fine comb structures, originally used in ceramic art
– Tsuishitsu Nuri (堆漆塗) combines multi-layered Urushi lacquers with Ranpaku technique, resulting in a deep, velvety shine.

The result is a vibrant, tactile dial that reveals new facets with every play of light – a wearable piece of Japanese craftsmanship history.
