INDEN, established in 1582, traces its roots back to a leather workshop founded in Kofu in 1582, which today calls itself "the world's oldest Japanese leather brand." The brand's origins lie in the time of the samurai: originally, deerskin and lacquer were used to embellish and reinforce parts of samurai armor, belts, and equipment. From this tradition arose the distinctive Koshu Inden technique – soft deerskin decorated with Japanese lacquer.

INDEN is characterized by the combination of exceptionally supple deerskin and subtly raised, glossy lacquer patterns. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in Japan. This makes the wallets, card cases, and accessories lightweight, robust, and comfortable for everyday use – while simultaneously embodying a piece of samurai history.

The patterns draw on classic Japanese motifs – floral designs, geometric shapes, or abstracted armor structures – and translate them into a modern, timeless look. INDEN est. 1582 thus combines traditional samurai aesthetics and Japanese craftsmanship with a clean, contemporary design.
